GDC No. 85837, BDS Lond 2005
I qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ London in 2005. I completed my training with the Community Dental Service in West Sussex before moving to the Community Dental Service in Hinchingbrooke Hospital. During my 10 years there I treated a wide range of medically compromised patients, many with disabilities and additional or special needs. I built some wonderful relationships with these initially extremely anxious patients, taking time to earn their trust using calming techniques, but with sedation or general anaesthetic only when strictly needed. After completing my PGCE, Post Graduate Certificate in Dental Education, I became a trainer for newly qualified dentists.
In 2016 I left the Community Dental Service to broaden my dental skills and joined a primarily private dental practice. In 2017 I completed the year long Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry course (with the renowned Chris Orr) and Invisalign training to become an accredited Invisalign provider. I really enjoy not only changing smiles, but changing smiles for patients who prior to meeting me were too scared to even sit in a dental chair, let alone have any treatment. I love listening to peoples’ stories, finding out how we can make their dentist experience more positive so that patients can leave the surgery smiling!
Outside of dentistry I love being active with my two boys. I love being by the sea, taking long walks, cycle rides and camping. As a family, protecting the environment and the oceans is something we all feel strongly about and so I use that passion to implement as many sustainable systems as we can at Godmanchester Dental.
GDC No. 211798, BDS University of Sheffield 2011
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2011. I then completed two years of Foundation Training in general practice and as a Senior House Officer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at Addenbrookes Hospital. I achieved my Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties in 2013 and then studied a one year course in Dental Implantology in Cambridge.
I have been working in private practice for the last seven years, where I have been able to develop my clinical skills, build relationships with my patients and regularly undertake courses to keep up to date with the latest developments in dentistry.
I have a keen interest in all aspects of dentistry, but my particular passion is in oral surgery, preventative and minimally invasive dentistry. I always strive to provide the highest quality of care for my patients.
I have a very open and welcoming approach to my patients. I have a calm manner which helps to maintain a relaxed atmosphere in our practice. I believe it is important to spend time listening to and understanding the concerns of my patients. I take great pride in being able to achieve a comfortable environment for anxious patients.
When I’m not at work I love to keep active working with my hands and I always have an arts and crafts project or two on the go. I get great satisfaction from learning new skills and seeing the final result of what I have done or made myself. This could be making clothes, cards, artwork or home improvements.
GDC No. 3579, CEB Cert in Dental Hygiene 1988
I began my dental career in 1984 qualifying as a Dental Nurse at University College Dental Hospital and then went on to achieve the Dental Hygienist Certificate in 1988 at Guys Dental Hospital London.
Over the last three decades I have gained a wealth of experience in all the dental fields, having worked in general dental practice as well as industry and the armed forces. My last position, which I held for many years, was working very closely with a team of specialist dentists that lead to an additional interest in complex cases. I am experienced in all aspects that encompass gingivitis and periodontitis to dental implants. I am highly skilled at giving local anaesthetic to patients to ensure hygiene appointments are as comfortable as possible.
My passion is in improving the quality of patients’ general mouth health to increase both comfort and confidence. As a child I was extremely frightened of dental visits and so I have used that experience to treat many phobic patients over the years.
When I am not in my clinical role I have a varied life that includes 2 grown up children. I have lived in Godmanchester for the last 30 years and feel privileged to live in such a friendly community; You may have seen me dog walking or at the gym.
I look forward to meeting you at Godmanchester Dental.
